My Southwind Boat

MY SOUTHWIND BOAT

The boat is a Southwind 18' with tandom axle trailer....

The motor-
Nickel alloy block Siamese cylinders 454 bored I think .030 over not .060, block decked and aligned bored.

stroked crank 1/4", Howard aluminum rods, Aries pistons - 513 cubic inches. 14-1 compression ratio.

Roller cam, rocker arms and stud girdle 7/16" pushrods.
Alum heads, intake and holly 1150cfm carb.

Have dry headers with muffler insert or chrome wet headers

Estimated horsepower is 600+ never on a dyno.

Jet pump is Berkley and has been blue printed.

The motor was originally built by a guy that built motors for a jet boat racer. The Berkley pump was blueprinted by the boat racer and picked up the boat about 3-4mph.
The motor has just been freshened up and is ready to go.

This boat with the above motor runs 90-91mph and with a 100-150hp nitrous kit on it will run about 92-93mph.

I also have the original stock 325hp 454 and with this motor the boat runs 65-66 mph and with the same nitrous kit will run 74-75 mph.

That's me 20 years ago driving the boat and the motor builder is along for the ride

Heading out

Boat- about 80 MPH

Wide open about 90 MPH
